About The Blue Boat Initiatve
The Blue BOAT Initiative (Buoy Oceanographic Alert Technology) is a project sponsored by the Chilean Ministry of the Environment and carried out with MERI Foundation. The project aims to preserve and protect whales while monitoring the oceans and studying and valuing marine ecosystem services, particularly those associated with whales' role in capturing CO2, which are necessary to address climate change.
The Blue BOAT Initiative is a complex whale early warning system for vessels that includes a network of smart buoys and a passive acoustic and oceanographic monitoring system. This Initiative adds to established protocols protecting whales in maritime traffic routes.

The intelligent buoy sends a signal to a satellite
The satellite sends the signal to an early warning station on the ground
The ship receives a warning from the station
Nomica with The Blue Boat Initiative
The Actor Action
The ship receives a warning from the station. In order not to harm the whale, the ship avoids the whale's position and adjusts its direction.
The Blue Boat Initiative
Receives these actions and evaluates their criteria. The information is then sent to Nomica.
Nomica
Receives the actions and confirms the transaction.
